A word about links on this LibGuide

NOTE TO STUDENTS:  In an effort to list some Spanish language sources, the usual strict rules regarding reliable websites have been relaxed a bit.

In gathering sources, give preference to databases and websites that are clearly part of a museum or reputable organization over sites that seem commercially oriented.

Sites with Many Artists

  • Artists on Google Arts & Culture
Search by time or alphabetically by artist.
  • Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History
The Metropolitan Museum of Art's comprehensive website of art reference. Includes artists and essays about art movements.
  • The Art Story: Modern Art Insight
A non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about modern and contemporary art. Especially helpful for information about art movements; also includes artists and timelines.
  • Artcyclopedia
A little more complicated to navigate, since it mainly provides links to works and information on other websites.
