Health Insurance, Cable, and Cell Phone

Ideally you will receive health insurance through your employer, however in many part-time and entry-level jobs, insurance is not provided.  Under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), all citizens will need to be insured.  In Massachusetts, you may remain on your parents' health insurance up to age 26.  So if this is possible for you, it is the best way to stay insured.

Car Insurance Quotes from Purple Ink Insurance (DeSimone Insurance Group)

Purple Ink Insurance Agency in Ashland (now under new ownership with the DeSimone Insurance Group) is willing to provide free auto insurance rate quotes to students in this class.

To get an accurate quote you will need to share three pieces of information with her:

1) How long have you had your driver's license?

2) What town will you be living in (location of your selected apartment)?

3) What is the year/make/model of your car?

She will provide quotes based on suggested coverages.

Please call 508-342-8379 (ask for Matt De Simone) between 9 am and 5:00 pm to obtain your quote.  There is also a form you can fill out online with the requested information (indicate you are with the class!) if you are busy during their office hours.

Links for Living Costs

Remember that in Massachusetts, most apartments are rented with heat and hot water included in the price of the monthly rental.

You may want to think about whether it is cheaper to live in the city and use public transportation versus living more in the suburbs and needing a car, and the expenses of that versus public transit.
